The Budget – Kleptocracy !

November 21, 2012

In order to avoid undue controversy regarding the coming budget on Dec 5 government have decided to plug possible ministerial leaks probably due to concern the major spending departments of Education and Health will fuel such controversy objecting to whole scale cuts in their departments. Ministers Quinn from Education and O Reilly from Health are being kept out of the loop in the final drafting of the budget.

Instead we have An Taoiseach, Mr Kenny, Tánaiste, Eamon Gilmore, Brendan Howlin, Minister for Public Expenditure & Reform and Mr Noonan, Minister for Finance in charge of the final drafting of the budget. You do not believe that, do you?

Angela Dorothea  Merkel is the Chancellor of Germany and party leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU):

Telephone Call Enda/Angela:

Angela: ” Zeu must impose budget cuts in Ireland and pay zeu debts in full to us. ”

Enda(enraptured trance): ” The Irish people are honoured to pay our debts in full to all our creditors ”

Meanwhile the long forgotten and rarely used phrase “sworn, public enquiry”  has reemerged in Ireland from an unlikely source, Savita Halappanavar’s senseless death. We are used to the white wash, cover ups, clandestine and conspiratorial, nod, nod, wink, wink approach to enquiries especially within the banking sector where first to leap forward hand raised to conduct a banking enquiry, is, no other than Professor Honahan of the Central Bank. But international pressure has forced us into the open and ‘Irish Inquiries’ are seen for the cover ups they are.

http://www.rte.ie/news/2012/0909/honohan-oireachtas-bank-inquiry-unnecessary.html

“Central Bank Governor Patrick Honohan has said that any information relevant to his brief that could be covered by any potential Oireacthas banking inquiry is known to him and has already been released.”

The above is Orwellian Newspeak with black/white inversions, so I need to translate.

“Could be covered” means in order to protect personnel, inquiry can’t be done in public, nor can the chancers behind the billions of loans handed out as gifts to their champions  be interrogated because such criminal abuse, white-collar crime, cannot be fully  investigated under laws of commercial interest or privacy. In other words, from Honahan, to the Oireachtas, feck off, you have what you gave that I already gave you, that’s all you’re going to get!.

These financial pariahs from the banking sector control and run the state as puppeteers of the ECB and the Bundestag and they are out to chain gang the rest of us:

Give me one day of sworn public enquiry with 3 people on billion dollar loans at Anglo/IBRC and the whole conspiracy that brought our country down will be laid bare along with its bonus culture, incompetence, cronyism and political corruption. Precisely why we haven’t had such a public, sworn inquiry!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kleptocracy

“Kleptocracies are generally associated with corrupt forms of authoritarian governments, particularly dictatorshipsoligarchiesmilitary juntas, or some other forms of autocratic and nepotist government in which no outside oversight is possible, due to the ability of the kleptocrat(s) to personally control both the supply of public funds and the means of determining their disbursal.  Kleptocratic rulers typically treat their country’s treasury as though it were their own personal bank account, spending the funds on luxury goods as they see fit.”

Ah, you say, but doesn’t kleptocracy also refer to juntas in Africa where an oligarchy transfers public funds into their own bank accounts outside the country. We’re not there yet. Things are more subtle in Ireland’s growing status as a banana republic. The transfer of wealth occurs in other ways.

Spring, Dukes, Sutherland, Bruton end their political careers parachuting into comfortable landing zones in the financial sector; with new jobs grooming their political crony clones . Inflated pensions and high salaries and feckless irresponsibility and incompetence and power are the reward of such political success.

But Savita Halappanavar’s senseless death has traveled around the world and internationally especially in India Ireland’s shambolic coverup excuse for an enquiry does not measure up to credibility and accountability even in jurisdictions in the developing world. This is almost as embarrassing as the courts McKenna judgment jumpstarting the current challenges to the recent referendum because of the expenditure of public money for propaganda purposes.

Meanwhile…..

“The most recent opinion poll, published in the Observer two days ago, suggests that 56% of British voters want to leave the EU while 30% want to stay in. That finding is broadly in line with surveys over the past decade. To adapt the late John Smith on the issue of Scottish devolution, withdrawal is now “the settled will of the British people”.”

We need a referendum in Ireland on whether we stay in the EU or go. We need a referendum on whether the Irish people agree to pay the odious promissory note repayments dictated to us by our kleptocracy and Angela Merkel. Europe has long since ceased to be the cohesive, democratic free enterprise key to Ireland’s future.

In the wake of such failed political leadership on so many levels in Ireland, perhaps its time to consider our options and join with our northern Irish family in a new commonwealth of nations, United Ireland and UK?

Angela: ” Zeu must impose budget cuts in Ireland and pay zeu debts in full to us. ”

Enda(enraptured trance): ” The Irish people are honoured to pay our debts in full to all our creditors ”

Angela: ”  Zeu troika has given yeu zee cuts, no! Your negotiators veu have given task of advising us best cuts, no? ”

Enda(enraptured trance): ” Not a thing to worry about, Angela: Enda, Eamon, Brendan and Michael will deliver on the day, as usual! ”

Time for a trip to an Irish ‘District 9’ zeu.

“We the undersigned call for an independent, judicial public inquiry into fraud, wrongdoing and ethics of British banks, their management and their staff, and the role of the British Bankers Association. The terms of reference of this inquiry should also include the manipulation of interest rates on about £225 trillion of assets. The inquiry must have full powers to compel witnesses to appear on oath, and to obtain all forms of evidence.”

The above by Anne Pettifor was a recent epetition here http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/35421

Today Minister for Health James Reilly has said an independent, sworn inquiry “could take years to complete”

Here is a summary of another inquiry into banking in another jurisdiction:

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/26/business/economy/26inquiry.html?_r=0

” Many of the conclusions have been widely described, but the synthesis of interviews, documents and testimony, along with its government imprimatur, give the report — to be released on Thursday as a 576-page book — a conclusive sweep and authority.

The commission held 19 days of hearings and interviews with more than 700 witnesses; it has pledged to release a trove of transcripts and other raw material online. ”

You can download the report from here:

http://fcic.law.stanford.edu/report

I have the book in my hand “In the course of its research and investigation, the commission reviewed millions of pages of documents, interviewed more than 700 witnesses, and held 19 days of public hearings..”(pxi) Its not perfect, of note is its work on shadow banking, securitization and derivatives, the fraudulent effects of dismembering home ownership mortgage support, taking management of this away from local bank managers and those directly responsible for handing out mortgages and selling on mortgages into complex derivatives stuffed with rubbish feeding a large ponzi scam.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Financial_Crisis_Inquiry_Commission

” The first public hearing of the Commission was held on January 13, 2010, with the presentation of testimony from various banking officials.[2] Hearings continued during 2010 with “hundreds” of other persons in business, academia, and government testifying.[3]

The Commission reported its findings in January 2011.”

Now the above inquiry had done most of its work in 6 months.

Minister O Reilly is alleging an inquiry into the death of Savita Halappanavar, ( condolences to her husband and extended family and friends ), could take YEARS. Come off it O Reilly, whats the coverup up, her husband deserves a judicial, sworn, independent, public inquiry? Mr Halappanaver has ignored the unfortunate appeal made by An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny, for him to comply with his ‘review’ of the case.

Whats the problem, our health system has nothing to hide by way of its systems and personnel, no one has anything to hide, have they? Our banking, political and financial system certainly has, no danger of a proper inquiry there yet?

Sworn, independent, public inquiries do not exist in Tír Na N’ÓG with Orwell’s Big Brother cover ups the norm along with media manipulation, and plain old ‘ black is white ‘ propaganda.

End.
